What we collect
SizeItDown does not require an account to use. We do not maintain a database of user profiles, and we do not read, view, or share the contents of the images or videos you upload.
- Uploaded files. Files you submit are processed in memory or in a short-lived temporary location only for as long as it takes to compress them and return the result. We never store, view, or share the file itself. Video results are held behind a temporary download link that expires automatically and is then deleted.
- Audit log (metadata only). For each compression request we record technical metadata — filename, file size, output format, byte size of the result, whether it succeeded, timestamp, and IP address. This never includes the image or video content itself. Entries are kept for 90 days for abuse prevention and troubleshooting, then automatically deleted.
- Basic server logs. Like most web services, our hosting infrastructure may briefly log technical request data (e.g. IP address, timestamp, error messages) for security and reliability purposes. These logs are not used to build user profiles.
- Cookies. If advertising is enabled on this site, our advertising partner (see below) may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser to serve and measure ads. We do not set any cookies of our own for tracking purposes.
Advertising
This site may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can learn more about how Google uses this data, and opt out of personalized advertising, at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Data retention
Uploaded files and their compressed results are not retained after your session. Temporary video download links expire automatically a short time after creation. The metadata-only audit log described above is kept for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we don't retain uploaded content or maintain accounts, this is mainly the audit-log metadata (see above) and the advertising data described above, which is controlled by Google. For any privacy question, or to request deletion of audit-log entries associated with your IP address, contact us at [email protected].
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
